ROUND 1
WEST BEACH vs INGLE FARM
LOCKLEYS OVAL
SUNDAY, APRIL 6, 2008
We asked new B Team coach Billy Graves to write a report on the Reserves match on the weekend, thanks Billy.
It was a difficult team selection for me today as I had 4 players dropping down from the 1st team from last season and also new players at the club to consider for the starting 11, this kind of dilemma just shows what depth we have got and will improve the competition for places and therefore our chances of finishing near the top at the end of the season.
We started the game very well in a new formation for the reserves which the lads have adapted to superbly so far.
Danny Giorgetti started brilliantly on the wing to set up 3 chances for our forwards within 5 minutes and we were unlucky not to score.
It didn't take long to break the deadlock though as another fantastic ball from Danny fell at Paul Jones' feet and as he shot a defender managed to direct the ball into the goal but the credit has to go to both Danny for his vision and Paul for his movement to set up the chance.
We continued to push the ball around confidently and looked very sure at the back and in midfield with Ricky Simpson, Chris Groom and Trevor Bradbrook standing out.
Early substitutions had to be made though due to an injury and also an illness to two players who were beginning to play well noticibly Evan Emmanuel who was having a great debut in defence.
Our second goal came from more great play down the wing with a fantastic ball played over from Paul Sanderson towards Chris Groom who had given himself space in a tight defence he controlled the ball well, sent the goal kepper one way and
slotted the ball into the opposite corner to cap off a fine first half for him.
That made it 2 nil at half time and we deserved the lead through our imaginative play and running off the ball.
The second half didn't live up to the first half performance partly due to West Beach playing more defensivly and also due to the conditions having an effect on some of our players but we did still get into great goal scoring positions but we didn't take the most of them, Mick McGiven and Danny Giorgetti continued to run with pace down the wings causing problems but our final ball just didn't hit the target.
The game finished 2 nil to us despite our efforts to increase the score line but West Beach didn't really threaten Michael Francken who came back to play in goal despite having a serious injury a few weeks before the season started, well done Mike.
Every player gave their all today, communication, running off the ball and the thought process was superb all day long and overall I was happy to get the win and put three points on the board especially away from home and I'd like to thank the players for their efforts and adapting to the new formation which has got them playing attractive football and with confidence.
With so many players lining up to take a spot in the reserve team, performances like this will be required week in week out to hold down a spot and I'm confident that we have a squad capable of pushing all season long.
I'm really looking forward to my home league debut as a coach next week and I would to take this opportunity to thank all the players and staff, both coaching and non coaching for their support and friendship shown to me since I joined the club.
Final score: West Beach 0 Ingle Farm 2.

ROUND 3
ELIZABETH VALE vs INGLE FARM
MOFFLIN ROAD
SUNDAY, APRIL 20, 2008
We faced our toughest test today against a team who many consider to be among the title challengers this season, Elizabeth Vale.I made some tactical changes for the trip to Moffin Road to counter what was going to be a very physical game in bright sunny conditions.Jarrad Rich making his 1st start for the Reserves this season after impressing for the 1st team joined Evan Emmanuel and Fernando Lara in the starting line up.
We started the game with the plan to match Vale physically and to stifle their game with a strong and creative midfield. Within the 1st 15 minutes it was clear it was going to be a bruising affair with Vahid Rahmani and Michael Francken receiving some harsh attention from the Vale forwards.
We were up to the task though, and although we created some decent opportunities, we couldn't break through the Vale defence.Hugo, Duy Tran, Mark Faulkner and Danny Giorgetti were the stand outs for us although every player played their part brilliantly and stuck to the game plan well.
The highlight of the half for us was a cross by Danny Giorgetti that was only millimetres away from the head of Jarrad Rich who almost gave us a goal before half time after a strong run into their 18.
Evan Emmanuel and Paul Sanderson were holding the Vale attack very well but they did manage to fire a powerful shot at Michael Francken who was up to the task pulling off a superb save midway through the half.
The half finished 0-0 and I made a few planned changes to keep the pressure on as I felt fitness would be an issue for the Vale and we could capitalise on it and continue to push forward.
Playing into the wind after the break we kept the ball low and our passing game shone through as we took control of the game very early.Danny Giorgetti moved into a forward position and Paul Sanderson moved onto the right. Hugo and Vahid srroked the ball around beautifully and Mark Faulkner kept the midfield intact with some industrious play.
Lloyd Townsend and Jason Keep were keeping the Vale attack quiet in defence and it was from great play out from the back through the middle that Hugo found space on the edge of the Vale penalty area and pushed the ball through to Danny who had lost his marker to open the scoring with a deserved goal.
The Vale heads seemed to drop and ours rose and not long after although he was struggling with a knock Vahid Rahmani danced his way through the Vale back line to square the ball to the on running Sanderson to extend the lead.It was what we deserved for our continued pressure and our willingness to play football against a physical Vale.
The home team dropped back deeper and tried to catch us on the break but our defence and teamwork held well.
Late in the half, Vahid again found himself skipping past challenges around the penalty area before brilliantly pulling the ball back for well positioned Daniel Giorgetti who bagged his second goal of the day to make it 3-0. It was justice for our efforts and after the goal I took Vahid off for a well earned rest.
Jamie Porter came on to play his part and sure up the midfield as we closed the game out.
The game finished 3-0 and the lads celebrated their efforts with a boisterous version of the club song back in the changing room.
The game plan worked brilliantly and was carried out to the letter by everyone on the pitch. Confidence is sky high and we will get a rest next week to re group and continue to work hard in training in readiness for the visit of Easties to Walkley Park.
Every game in Division 1 is a test of skill, endurance and passion and I am proud of the way the lads performed today, we showed character and discipline against a physical team who are going to be right up their when it matters at the sticky end of the season.

ROUND 4
INGLE FARM vs PARA HILLS EAST
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, MAY 4, 2008
Today we welcomed 5th place Para Hills East to Walkley park for our local derby in very warm conditions.
We were missing 3 players from the squad who were not available from the Vale game but had the addition of Evan Emmanuel, Mick Clarke, Jarrad Rich and Chris Groom to the starting line up.
We began the game brightly and within 5 minutes we had created 4 great chances through Mick McGiven, Chris Groom, Hugo Gaudencio and Evan Emmanuel. All fabulous balls through the middle and by using our pace on the wings.
We then had another 15 minutes where we played really good football but couldn't break through the excellent East keeper. He came out quickly to force Danny Giorgetti into a shot over the bar then more importantly he smothered the ball from the toe of Jarrad Rich after a great ball in from the impressive Evan Emmanuel.
Just on the half hour mark we finally broke through as a perfect through ball from Chris Groom found the feet of the rushing Evan Emmanuel who after taking a couple of touches calmly slotted the ball past the keeper in to the bottom right hand corner of the goal. 1-0 to Farm.
Halftime: Ingle Farm 1 Para Hills East 0.
We started the 2nd half with a couple of changes and got into a patient pace, looking for the opportunities that would
come our way.
We created 2 great chances in the middle of the half with great balls through from Lloyd Townsend to the feet of Fernando Lara and then to Groomy but again we couldn't beat substitute goalkeeper Ian Kirk - who had replaced the starting keeper who had been injured after playing well between the sticks during the 1st half.
As the game wore on into the last 15 minutes our fitness shone through and we took even more control of the midfield
and some of the ball play was sublime.
With 10 to go a lovely ball was pushed through to Groom who ran 15 yards and took on 3 defenders and curled a great left footed shot from the edge of the box past the keeper into the bottom right hand corner, a very well deserved goal from Groom who had enjoyed a great game.
Almost immedialtely from the restart Lloyd Townsend brought the ball from defence out to Michael Clarke on the wing who found Danny Giorgetti with a great ball, Danny pushed it on to the by line and pulled it hard and low across the box for Mick McGiven to score against his old team and wrap up the points and seal a 3 nil win.
Overall we at times we looked flat and lost some intensity, but we continued with our game plan, kept patient and deserved the win playing some fabulous football along the way. Sometimes we have to play it ugly and grind out the results and today we did this and I'm more than happy with that.
Well done boys

ROUND 5
ELIZABETH DOWNS vs INGLE FARM
ARGANA PARK
SUNDAY, MAY 11, 2008
Today we visited the home of the current and two time champions ‘Elizabeth Downs’ at Argana Park.
It was obviously going to be a tough test for us, especially as we are challenging them for that Reserves Title, even this early in the season. Adding more spice to the fixture was that both teams were 4 wins from 4 and neither team had conceded a goal so far. So on paper, it was going to be a great game - and it didn’t disappoint.
We set out to match the Downs physically and I was able to welcome back Marty Lara to the starting line up for his 1st start for the season, but we were without another 3 players due to injuries, all who will be available for the next game.
We started the game very brightly and within 5 minutes we had the lead after some early Downs pressure. A great ball was fed into the box from Evan Emmanuel into Danny Giorgetti who took two players on, drew the keeper out then squared the ball to Fernando Lara for an easy tap in. 1-0 to Farm.
Shortly afterwards Groomy brought a great cross down with his left foot, then nipped it across to Fedz again who chested it then hit a lovely left foot volley just past the post.
On 15 minutes we earned a free kick which was floated in towards Andy Lynn who created enough havoc to force a defender into heading the ball into his own goal to make it 2 nil.
Downs to their credit kept coming forward and after a quick throw in on 20 minutes they muscled a header into our goal to make it 2-1.
The game was now really end-to-end and after a great one two between Marty and Jarrad Rich, the ball was knocked to Fedz who again nipped it just past the post. Just before the half time break we forced the Downs keeper into two awesome saves with shots from Jarrad and Fedz with a spectacular volley.
Half Time 2-1
The second half was much the same, really end to end with both keepers having to pull off great saves and defence's being stretched through great play.
50 minutes in and the Downs keeper pulled off his best save from Jarrad who hit a shot from an acute angle, the keeper pushed it passed the post at full stretch.
It wasn’t long before we extended our lead though, a free kick was hit in by Jarrad and after the keeper dropped it, Fedz followed in to make it 3-1.
We still couldn’t pull away from a determined Downs team but chances were still coming our way, Mark Faulkner hit a great strike onto the bar, Fedz again was there to pounce on the return but the keeper kept his efforts up with another great stop.
As the game moved on Downs took another quick throw which fell to 3 players in the box, the shot was driven in with pace and hit the net to make it 3-2 and ensure we had a nervy finish for both teams.
As the game wore on I thought our fitness showed and we managed to keep Downs from leveling the scoring and we took the win and a deserved 3 points back to Walkley Park.
I was very happy with our efforts today, again every player played their part and we knew the Downs where never going to lay down and let us win easily, we had to battle for 90 minutes, keep patient and take our chances.
A draw for the neutral may have been a fair result but not many teams will come away from Argana this season with 3 points, we did that because we believed in ourselves and played our game and for that I believe we were worthy winners.
Well done boys.
FINAL SCORE: Elizabeth Downs 2 Ingle Farm 3.

ROUND 6
INGLE FARM vs PARAFIELD GARDENS
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2008
Today we welcomed Parafield Gardens to Walkley Park for our 6th league game of the season. We also welcomed back Paul Jones to the starting line up after 4 weeks away.
The Gardens began very brightly and had us under pressure right away with their attacking play which we defended well and within 15 minutes we had created 2 chances which saw us come close to opening the scoring the 1st after Jarrad Rich played a ball through to Fernando Lara whose shot was well saved by Gardens keeper.
The 2nd saw another great through ball from the impressive Ricky Simpson to Paul Jones who was fouled on the edge of the area, the free kick was well struck by Jarrad Rich and was headed over the bar well by the Gardens sweeper as it made its way towards goal.
We then saw about 20 minutes of good pressure and great play especially from an in form Rich which saw chances fall to Andy Lynn and Paul Jones but we couldn't manage to convert the chances.
As the game neared half time, Ricky played a lovely ball to Fedz outside the box, who turned and rolled the ball square to Andy Lynn and the captain stroked the ball home to make it 1 nil.
A great time to score, the Gardens will feel they deserved to go in at the break level after good defending.
Half Time 1-0
The second half saw us continue with pressure and great play, and some of our passing was carving through the Gardens midfield and defence and 2 very early chances saw Fedz unable to keep a header down from a cross from Andy Lynn before great quick passing between Jarrad Rich and Paul Jones saw Ricky place his shot towards the corner only for the inspired Gardens keeper to push it past the post.
Our fitness and strong running was now taking its toll on the Gardens and after just 10 minutes of the restart great play between Danny Giorgetti and Evan Emmanuel saw Fernando through one on one, who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 nil.
Paul Jones was linking up superbly with Marty Lara and one chance saw Marty sprinting towards the goal only to see his shot blocked.
On 64 minutes though our pressure reaped its reward, brilliant passing and a lovely one two between Fernando and Mark Faulkner finished with the ball played to the superb Jarrad Rich who capped a great performance off with our 3rd goal of the game.
We had some great individual performances today, Jarrad, Ricky and Paul Jones all had fantastic games for us
Mark Faulkner, Jamie Porter and Jason Keep again put in solid performances as did Michael Francken in goal who had his
best game this season, he made 3 great saves, 2 at the feet of Gardens players to keep another clean sheet.
Overall again I feel we more than deserved the win today, we continued to play to our strengths and continued to play
with a belief that we would get our rewards if we put in the effort. Well done again boys and thanks for your efforts each and everyone of you.
FINAL SCORE: Ingle Farm 3 Parafield Gardens 0.

ROUND 7
PARA HILLS WEST vs INGLE FARM
MANOR FARM OVAL
SUNDAY, JUNE 1, 2008
Today we visited Para Hills West for an eagerly anticipated game after a weeks enforced rest due to the forfeited cup game last weekend.
We welcomed to our squad today the talented Alex Lynn for his 1st game in the reserves after impressing in the 1st team for the last 6 weeks.
We knew the Westies would be fired up for this game and it was not approached lightly from a training and preparation point of view.
I decided upon a tactical change to our formation today which saw Marty Lara move to the right side of midfield and push
Danny Giorgetti up front with Fernando Lara. Danny would give us strength up front and Marty with his great close control would give us different attacking options from midfield and down the right side of the park.
Westies started very strongly and attacked us straight away, they were physical as we thought they would be and during the first 10 minutes we exchanged a few half chances and some tough tackles with them all over the park.
Our first real chance though after 11 minutes resulted in a goal, one of the West midfielders tried a fancy flick which fell to the feet of Mark Faulkner his quick pass found the rushing Marty Lara who delivered a perfectly weighted ball to Danny Giorgetti who took the ball in his stride and shot hard past the keepers right hand. A great team goal from quick and precise play.
Wests seemed to drop their guard after this as we began to win more balls in the middle and took control of the game for the next 20 minutes. Just 5 minutes after the opening goal Evan Emmanuel broke from defence and played another great ball to Danny who past 2 players before delivering a perfect cross field ball to Chris Groom, he took the ball down in his stride, beat 3 players then knocked the ball past the goal keepers near post to make it 2 nil, again another great goal from thoughtful and purposeful football.
Shortly after this Faulkner broke through the midfield and found Danny with another superb pass, his shot passed the goal keeper but was stopped well by the West defender inside the 6 yard box. 20 minutes; Evan again clipped a ball into Fernando who hit his shot just over the bar.
Our next goal was always going to come before the break as we were creating so much through the middle of the park, Chris Groom, Ricky Simpson, Mark Faulkner and Marty Lara were linking up superbly.
Danny who was playing well up front again received the ball outside the box and his cross field ball found Ricky Simpson ghosting in at the back post to make it 3 nil at half time. A very impressive display with great passages of play and a well deserved lead.
We made some enforced changes at half time, one due to a head injury to Evan, hopefully he will return quickly as he has been playing really well for us, creating, battling and supporting. The other change was Alby moving onto the bench for the 1st team.
Although we were in a good position, the job was only half done and we needed to keep the pressure on Wests and search for more goals. The second half was similar to the opening exchanges of the 1st period as we were creating some excellent chances but West continued to pressure us looking for a goal they probably deserved.
70 minutes saw Jarrad Rich flick a ball through to Fernando Lara who dragged the ball back into Marty's path, his shot beat the keeper but hit the post, it would've been another great team goal if it had gone in.
75 minutes and a perfect floated free kick from Trevor Bradbrook found Fedz again but his shot was right at the keeper.
77 minutes and we effectively killed the game off with our 4th goal. Jamie Porter broke from defence and hit a ball to the feet of Marty, he knocked it 1st time to Faulkner who again knocked it quickly to Fedz who took 2 touches before unleashing an unstoppable shot high into the West goal leaving the keeper with no chance.
The game petered out from then on in but it was not without us continuing to push for more goals, in the end we were unlucky no to score as many goals as West had conceded all season.
We played with a desire to do our job today, every single player played their part brilliantly. The game plan was executed to the letter and we probably played some of our most exciting and precise play of the season at times. Many players deserve credit for their individual efforts today and I will talk to them all on Tuesday night but the team as a whole gelled
and worked for each other tirelessly and it showed in the end result.
My personal best wishes go to Evan who put his body on the line for the team and took a heavy blow, its this kind of spirit that keeps us pushing for perfection week in week out, today we very nearly achieved it.
Thanks for your efforts again boys.

PONTIAN EAGLES vs INGLE FARM
RIDLEY GROVE
SUNDAY, JUNE 15, 2008
We made the trip to Ridley Grove school today after our disapointing loss last week and I was glad to be able to name
a near full strength team after having injuries to some key players. Lynn, Lara, Rahmani all coming back.
Our plan was to start brightly and get early goals against a team who I knew would be structured and quick up front.
If we allowed Pontian to get into their game they would give us some tricky moments and after 10 minutes our plan came to life with an early breakthrough.
Chris Groom and Marty Lara combined with a neat one two on the right hand side and Lara played a great ball in to Andy Lynn who calmly turned his defender to score low to the keepers left. 1-0.
We continued with our game plan using Marty Lara to great effect on the right wing and ten minutes later we were 2 up
Just before we scored Mark Faulkner had turned in an advanced midfield position to feed Lynn who's shot just skimmed the post.
On the restart we forced a corner with strong closing down and good link up play from Rahmani, Lara and Lynn and the corner from McGiven was placed to the back post for Chris Groom to head powerfully past the keeper. 2-0.
The half continued well for us and we would see our lead extended before the break to pretty much kill the game off.
Lloyd Townsend broke from defence strongly with the ball finding Fernando Groom to score his second with his head.
Half Time 3-0 and 'Normal Service' had been resumed.
We were happy with our lead but disappointed not to see at least one penalty given from the three I thought were worthy
of at least a look from the referee who overall had a decent game.
Right from the kick off we increased our lead to dispel any faint hopes Pontian had of an revival. Faulkner broke away from midfield with the ball after a strong challenge and Fernando again who saw Groom running free from a defender, his pass to Lynn was headed past the diving keeper. 4-0.
It was one way traffic now for the remaining 40 minutes and we created many chances to increase our lead even further
and show the difference in class between the two teams.
Mick McGiven who was having a great game forced a corner with a hard low shot, the resulting corner saw 2 shots at goal which the keeper did well to keep out.
Lynn re-payed some of the great balls from Fernando Lara with a great short pass to feet, Lara could not put his shot inside the post.
75 minutes gone and we got our final goal of the game, McGiven who was finding enormous amounts of room down the left played a great ball in to Lynn who scored after twisting his defender in knots. 5-0.
During the final 15 minutes Groom, Lara, Lynn and McGiven all had great opportunities to score but a mixture of the post, bar and inaccurate shooting kept the scoreline as it was.
There has to an honourable mention to our president Jay Walker who after coming on late broke through the midfield and shot high and wide of the goals, I think he got a nose bleed and panicked myself and at least we were able to finish the game with a smile.
A great performance today and a great way to get back on track after last week's disappointment. We got our result through our normal routes and some different channels seeing Groom score twice with his head.
The boys are sent out with a game plan but also the words "if its on, its on" ringing in their ears meaning they can use 'artistic license' if they see an opportunity.
They are all skillful players with some excellent football brains in Groom, the Lara brothers, Townsend and Lynn, all of them are capable of turning a game with their vision and creativness, only a fool would not allow them to 'enjoy their game' and take a few chances. It keeps us fresh and gives us many many options in our attacking play.
Thanks boys

ROUND 10
INGLE FARM vs WEST BEACH
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JUNE 29, 2008
It was a welcome return home for us today against West Beach for the start of the second stage of the league season.
We welcomed Paul Sanderson and Hugo Gaudencio back to our squad and also I had the pleasure of naming Dave Ennis
for the 1st time since he broke his leg last season.
The game didn't take long to come to life, West Beach scoring straight from the kick off after turning the ball over in midfield,
the striker hitting the back of the net from an angle.
Immediately from our returning kick off we played the ball through to Andy Lynn who flicked the ball superbly through to Fernando Lara to knock it past the keeper to make it 1-1 after 90 seconds.
Not long after we could have took the lead after a throw from Marty Lara to Fedz was flicked to Andy Lynn who ran a few yards before his shot was well saved by the keeper in the far corner.
The game was very open with Beach playing some inspired football, both teams creating chances through good play, this was definately a more disciplined Beach side than at the start of the season.
15 minutes into the game and West Beach increased their lead from a corner, the ball in was not great but as our defender swung to clear it the ball came off the outside of his boot and span straight to the Beach, the resulting shot was hit quickly as our defence closed in to make it 1-2.
We continued to play football and slowly but surely our patience paid off as we took more control of the game, 30 mins and we equalised again through super play in the middle of the park, Mark Faulkner, Vahid Rahmani and Dave Ennis all combined to move the ball to Andy Lynn who calmly pushed the ball home. 2-2.
Five minutes later and we took the lead, Andy Lynn knocked the ball onto Fedz, his run resulted in a foul from behind and a penalty, he stood up to slot the kick home and take a deserved lead into the second half 3-2.
The second half saw us really dominate the game, we pushed the ball around using wing play, direct play and thoughtful midfield play all of which created goal scoring chances, Vahid was pushed up front and after 5 minutes of the restart we extended our lead, Dave Ennis floated a lovely ball over the top for Vahid who's volley hit the post, the rebound came straight at him and he placed a header low to make it 4-2.
60 minutes played and the game was effectively won as Vahid closing down caused the Beach defenders to turn the ball over, he took the ball on and shot past the keeper to make it 5-2.
We made some changes to give players a run in different positions for the future and continued to knock the ball around with confidence, it is good to have a squad that is versatile and players who are comfortable across the park.
With 15 minutes to go beach scored a late consolation goal, our goal kick got caught up in a strong gust of wind, the head down by Danny McCombie resulted in a 1 on 1 and the Beach striker took his chance very well to end the game 5-3.
I thought after the start it was going to be a fast and furious pace by both teams, Beach played very well and tried to match our game on the park. What we have though is patience and a very fit team, we don't panic and with different options for play we have a belief that we can create chances, the task is always to score them which we have been doing.
Danny McCombie told me after the game the pace was hard and he was glad the game finished when it did, it gives credence to our efforts in training and shows the spirit we have at the moment.
We had good players in all the right positions again today, Marty, Fernando, Andy, Vahid, Lloyd, Mick, Mark and Dave all played very well and are keeping the pressure on the 1st team for their positions, the result in the end was deserved and with 4 more players to come back in the following few weeks to ensure competition for reserve places is even stronger.
Great effort today boys, thank you

ROUND 11
USC LION vs INGLE FARM
GRANGE
SUNDAY, JULY 6, 2008
We visited league headquarters today in very difficult blustery conditions to take on a resurgent USC Lion.
The conditions were a big test and it took 20 minutes before either team could play any real thoughtful football.
USC were trying to use the conditions to their advantage hitting long high balls towards our defence which was
marshalled superbly by Marty Lara.
We did create chances though, Chris Groom and Fernando Lara were combining well but the goal keeper made some great saves and some of the final balls were taken out by a strong cross field wind.
After 13 minutes Vahid played a 1-2 with Groomy, Vahid was tripped as he sped through, the free kick was hit very well by Groom but his shot hit the bar with no one able to get to the rebound.
After 30 minutes Groom again took a quick free kick to Dave Ennis making his 1st start in a year but he couldn't keep the ball in. Shortly after this Ennis played a great ball to Andy Lynn on the near post, he flicked the ball over the box and Fedz couldn't make contact.
As we ended the half attacking our fitness and concentration saw us score two very quick goals, Mick McGiven received the ball out wide and his cross was met by Andy Lynn 1-0, shortly after as the USC Lion heads dropped another passage of quick play saw McGiven again play the ball into Lynn, he took a few steps before hitting his shot against both posts to ensure we went into half time with the score at 2-0.
Again we made some changes during the break, both tactical and in preparation for the coming weeks and it showed as our second half play totally dominated the Lions all over the park.
We were creating many chances and after 15 minutes we had a shot past the post and scored 2 goals. Mick McGiven was playing excellent on the left wing and his ball into the box found Fernando who squared to Andy Lynn, he dribbled past 3
defenders before finding Dave Ennis on the far post, 3-0.
Minutes later similar play and a hard low ball in from McGiven found an unmarked Sanderson to make it 4 nil.
Lion were awarded a very dubious free kick on the edge of our area, the kick was miss hit into our wall, the rebound reacted on quicker by Lion and the low hard shot squirmed though to give Lion a consolation goal 4-1.
It was only that though as we continued to push forward at every opportunity, straight after the kick off we found McGiven again who played the ball over to Lynn to make it 5-1 an give him a deserved hat trick.
With the game moving towards its finish we really could have scored 4 or 5 more, we were totally dominating the game and McGiven was rewarded for his overall efforts with our 6th and final goal. This time Lynn was the provider, Ennis, Lynn, Sanderson, Elrick and Faulkner all combined to get the ball across goal for McGiven to score from close range.
The game finished Lion 1 Ingle Farm 6. Patience and perseverance were the words I would use to describe our play
today, the conditions were extremely difficult to play in but we used both of these to get a grip of the conditions and take control of the game, it was only a matter of time before we made the breakthrough.
Both Lara brothers, McGiven, Faulkner, Townsend, Lynn, Rahmani and Ennis are all giving our head coach things to think about for future games by their consistency and desire.
With 4 more players due back in this week the challenge for them is to keep this consistency and for the returning players to show in training that they are ready.
The entire squad listen and execute play and tactics to the letter week in week out, this is a really special team to coach
and watch and I feel privileged to be a part of it.
Thanks for your efforts again boys.
Respect
Billy Graves
