A TEAM ARCHIVES - SEASON 2007
ROUND 1
FULHAM vs INGLE FARM
COLLINS RESERVE
SUNDAY, APRIL 15, 2007
Ingle
Farm were disappointingly held to a 2-2 away draw at Fulham in its
first match back in the top flight of the Amateur League in 12 years.
Farm were forced to play catch up football as twice the visitors went
behind in the match.
Both
team's paused for a minute's silence prior to kick off, both teams paid
their respects to recent death's at their clubs. Farm also wore black
armbands in memory of Julie Townsend.
Perfect
sunny conditions greeted the teams at Fulham, while a strong breeze
favoured the northern end of the ground. Fulham won the toss and kicked
with the wind in the first half.
Farm
were missing club captain Chris Ennis through injury, Danny Smith
(suspension) and Torsten Rutter with work committments for the opening
league fixture.
Farm
started the game well. Leon Hannessen, Brad Donovan, and Fernando Lara
saw a lot of the ball as Farm looked to attack. Farm had several
corners and a free kick but were wasteful with delivery.
Anthony
Ragazzo set up Farm's first opportunity after 10 minutes when his fine
cross found Ricky Simpson who sprayed a good chance one on one with the
Fulham keeper.
Fulham
blew an opening in the 20th minute when their player slipped while
seemingly being away one on one with Farm keeper Robbie Greenwood, the
ball eventually cleared by Farm's Anthony Staltari.
Two
minutes later Leon Hannessen wasted an excellent chance for Farm after
finding space in the Fulham 18 yard box, however his 15 yard strike
failed to hit the target.
Fulham
however then took the lead in the 30th minute. A foul by Alby Lynn on
the edge of Farm's 18 yard box resulted in a free kick to the home team
directly in front. The resulting strike by Fulham striker Jason
Braiotta flew into the top of the net giving Greenwood no chance. 1-0
to Fulham.
Farm
seemed rattled by the goal as Fulham pushed for a second. A fine 20
yard Fulham strike was brilliantly saved by Greenwood, when the Farm
keeper pushed the ball onto the post before picking up the crumbs to
relieve the danger.
Then 5 minutes before the break Fulham blew another good chance, as Farm were lucky to go in just 1 goal down at half time.
Despite
their effort, Farm's strikers got little service during the first half.
Farm players seemed more wanting to take their opponents on rather than
to knock an early ball through.
Leon
Hannessen, Anthony Staltari and Greenwood had a reasonable first half
for Farm. Overall it was a poor opening from the visitors.
Halftime : Fulham 1 Ingle Farm 0.
After
the break there was a bit more niggle. Some push and shove saw a player
from each team booked while another Farm player was booked for a hand
in the face while fending off his marker.
Both teams were looking to
lift the tempo as the game was up for grabs.
Farm
finally found their equalizer in the 65th minute when Ricky Simpson's
pass found Dave Ennis who beat a defender only to be brought down 15
yards out. Penalty! Farm's Paul Jones stepped up for the spot kick, the
initial strike well saved before Jones followed up to drill the ball
home. 1-1.
Fulham
almost snatched the lead once again when their striker was left one on
one before Farm keeper Robbie Greenwood sensationally thwarted the
Fulham striker with a fine smother.
However
in the 75th minute Fulham did regain the lead. Poor marking by Farm
left dangerous Fulham striker Johnny Lipari free and the striker made
no mistake with a clever shot over the Farm keeper's head from 18
yards. 2-1 to Fulham.
Peter
Bria and Marty Lara replaced Simpson and Ragazzo and it was Bria who
had a hand in Farm's late equalizer in the 85th minute. Bria's
intelligent flick on allowed Dave Ennis to run onto the ball and easily
finish from point blank range. 2-2.
Farm
tried in vain to to get a late winner but were well held out by
Fulham's defence and goalkeeper - who enjoyed a very good game for the
home team.
Farm
can consider themselves lucky to take a point from the match. It was a
lethargic performance by the team against the unfancied Fulham.
Farm Head Coach Paul Simpson said he was "Disappointed with the result and our overall display."
"If we are to progress any further in this league we are going to have to lift our standard of play and our committment."
Final Score : Fulham 2 Ingle Farm 2.

ROUND 2
INGLE FARM vs SALISBURY INTER
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, APRIL 22, 2007
Ingle
Farm's first team remain winless after 2 rounds after being defeated
1-0 by Salisbury Inter at its home ground, Walkley Park today.
Despite having the better of possession in the match, in a game of few
chances, poor finishing again cost Farm before it conceded a penalty in
the 55th minute that separated the two teams after 90 minutes.
A
beautiful sunny day drew a large crowd at Ingle Farm for the much
anticipated clash, a slight breeze favoured the northern end in
otherwise perfect conditions.
Before
the match the two teams lined up out on the pitch as SAASL President
Bill Bailey presented Farm with a $1500 dollar cheque that will go into
the Liam Powney fund.
The
first half began at a frenetic pace. Both teams were quick to close
down opponents as players had trouble finding space early doors.
Farm
had their first chance after just 2 minutes. Brad Donovan found room at
the far post - only to mis-kick his shot from 12 yards, the ball
falling to Dave Ennis whose quick snap was well saved by Inter keeper
Rodriguez.
Tackles
were flying in early as Inter's Scott Wilson was yellow carded as well
as fullback Graziano. Wilson later was caught out "faneing" for a free
kick with a comical dive that did not impress referee Bob Braithwaite
who handed the man mountain a final warning midway through the first
half.
The
two teams were evenly matched during the first half. Farm enjoyed
possession in their attacking half while Inter looked dangerous on the
break. However neither team made many inroads on goals as both goalkeepers had little to do during the half.
Farm
created a second half-chance after 40 minutes when clever work by David
Ennis on the right led to a cross that Ricky Simpson latched onto - but
the ball was steered over the crossbar from 5 yards.
Returning captain Chris Ennis, Leon Hannessen and Anthony Ragazzo had a good first half for Farm.
Halftime 0-0.
Farm
started the second half well as they looked to attack the visitors up
the hill. Farm's final ball was letting the team down however, as
strikers Paul Jones and Dave Ennis again received little service.
In
the 55th minute, casual defending at the back from Farm led to a
quickly taken throw in that caught Farm out when Inter's big midfielder
Scott Wilson was unfairly fouled inside Farm's 18 yard box. Penalty!
Wilson himself stepped up for the spot kick, Greenwood getting a hand on the bullet shot but unable to prevent the ball rocketing into the net. 1-0 to Inter.
Farm
were thrown a lifeline after 70 minutes when fullback Graziano was sent
off after being shown a second yellow card for a brash challenge. Inter
were down to ten men for the remaining 20 minutes of the match.
Farm
midfielder Brad Donovan came more into the game after the fullback's
departure. Some good balls into the mixer put Inter's defence under
pressure, however the visitors were equal to the challenge as they
desperately cleared the ball time and again.
A
dangerous Farm cross was almost turned in for an own goal in the 80th
minute by an Inter defender before Paul Jones sprayed a half chance
wide for Farm in the 86th.
However it was too little too late for Farm as the referee blew the final whistle minutes later.
Chris Ennis and Leon Hannessen both played extremely well for Farm in the disappointing loss today.
Farm
Head Coach Paul Simpson said of his troops performance, "I thought we
were very unlucky today - as we totally dominated the game, but was
unable to score."
"I don't think we had a bad player today."
However
it has been an ordinary start to the season for winless Farm who now
languish in 7th position after the opening two rounds.
Final Score : Ingle Farm 0 Salisbury Inter 1.

ROUND 3
PARA HILLS EAST vs INGLE FARM
PARA HILLS OVAL
SUNDAY, APRIL 29, 2007
Ingle Farm slumped into 9th position as the 1st team were comfortably defeated by Para Hills East 2-0 at Para Hills Oval today.
Once
again Farm had the majority of the ball but lacked any kind of system
going forward, its lack of firepower in front of goal again costing the
team dearly. Farm again went behind in their match, for the third straight game, as they were forced to play catch up football.
Nearly
four inches of rain fell the days previous to the match, it was
Adelaide's first good dump of rain in over 12 months, creating slippery
conditions on an otherwise well grassed, flat pitch.
The
match opened with Para Hills East kicking with a gusty breeze to the
northern end, however Farm had the better of the opening minutes with
Dave Ennis, Ricky Simpson, Anthony Ragazzo and Paul Jones looking to
attack the home team.
Para Hills East's defence were doing well however and lead by their sweeper Eowen O'Neil and centre-half Gary Aitken, East held Farm out with ease.
East
then opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Farm failed to clear the
ball at the back, the ball eventually dropping to East's Steve Ingham
who easily slotted the ball home from 6 yards. 1-0 to East.
Neither
team dominated after the goal. The two midfields were engaged in an
arm-wrestle as Farm tried in vain to get an equalizer - while East were
seemingly content to hold Farm out.
Farm nearly went two down just before halftime when East tried to
scramble the ball over the line before Martin Lara cleared the ball for
Farm from the goalmouth, before East had another good chance belted
over the crossbar from close range.
Farm had few winners in the first half however Alby Lynn and Chris Ennis were playing well in defence for the visitors.
Halftime: Para Hills East 1 Ingle Farm 0.
Straight after the break it poured with rain with a heavy shower. This made conditions even more difficult for the two teams.
It
was clear the two team's strategies for the second half, Farm
introduced Brad Donovan for some run while East continued to slow the
game down and belt the ball out for throw ins.
Substitute
Donovan played well after coming on, Donovan put several good crosses
in for the visitors during the second half but it was concerning at the
lack of shots on East's goal with Farm having the aid of a strong wind
during the half.
Danny
Smith came onto the park for his final match with Ingle Farm with 15
minutes remaining, although he did some good things the midfielder's
grunt could not improve Farm's scoring chances.
Farm
made their charge in the final 20 minutes of the game but failed to
trouble East keeper Ian Kirk. Hannessen managed to hit the crossbar
late in the game while a Donovan shot could only be parried by keeper
Kirk, the follow up was well defended.
At
the death East rubbed the preverbal salt into wounds when unmarked
Steve Ingham out jumped Farm's defence to score from a free kick in the
92nd minute for his and East's second.
2-0
the final result to the home team. Farm Head Coach Paul Simpson said of
the away loss "Disappointed with the result, can't fault the player's
effort."
"We are slowly coming to terms with the Division 1 kick-and-rush style of football."
"I'd
just like to thank Danny Smith for his effort and professionalism at
the club. It's a big loss to the club, but we wish him all the best,
and if he comes back to Australia he will always be welcome at the
Ingle Farm Soccer Club."
Final score: Para Hills East 2 Ingle Farm 0.

ROUND 4
INGLE FARM vs USC LION
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, MAY 6th, 2007
Ingle
Farm reversed last week's scoreline as they recorded their first win of
the season when they defeated USC Lion 2-0 at Walkley Park today.
In
a game full of action, including a penalty miss and countless chances,
Brad Donovan emerged as the hero as he slotted home 2 fine goals to
lead Farm to victory.
Farm
started well. A free kick taken by Chris Ennis fell to Donovan who
calmly slotted the opening goal from 12 yards. 1-0 to Farm.
Farm
striker Paul Jones was brought down by Lion's keeper in the 20th minute
resulting in a penalty. However keeper Treagar impressively redeemed
himself by brilliantly saving Jones' resulting spot kick.
USC
Lion had their best chance of the match soon after the penalty miss
when Cvijanovic blazed the ball over the bar from 15 yards.
However
Farm doubled their lead in the 35th minute, again through Brad Donovan.
The electric Donovan gathered the ball and proceeded to take on several
Lion defenders to find himself in on goal where he showed great
composure to slot the ball home from inside 18. 2-0 to Farm.
The
home team were enjoying their best half of the season. Another good
chance was blown for Farm minutes later when Dave Ennis put through
Jones who wasted a one on one by blowing the ball over the crossbar.
Farm should have gone into the break 4-0 up.
Donovan,
Anthony Staltari, Ricky Simpson, Dave Ennis, Alby Lynn, Anthony Ragazzo
and Peter Bria all played well before the break for Farm.
Halftime: Ingle Farm 2 USC Lion 0.
Farm introduced Fernando Lara at the break and the home team continued to attack early in the second half.
Jones was having an off day in front of goal as his finishing was
ordinary at best. Several good chances fell the strikers way, but
disappointingly, the hard-working striker repeatedly let himself down
with his final touch.
Peter
Bria was having a good second half for the home team. His marauding
runs down the line were troubling the Lion defence while Ricky
Simpson's hardness in tackles was at times brilliant.
In
the 75th minute Jones came closest when his crisp shot on goal was
magnificently saved by Lion keeper Traegar, who dived to the top
corner, deflecting the ball onto the post and away for a corner.
Donovan
had a terrific opportunity for his hat-trick when from 14 yards his
sharp volley went narrowly wide of goal. Dave Ennis ran amok during the
second half - terrifying opposition players with his presence as he
harassed players of the ball a number of times. Farm's pressure and
intensity was certainly paying dividends.
However
Farm had to be content with Donovan's earlier efforts as the home team
could not find a way to get the ball in the net during the second half.
Led by Alby Lynn, Chris Ennis and Anthony Staltari, Farm defended
stoutly to keep the visitors out with their few chances of the half
that they did create.
Farm Head Coach Paul Simpson later said "The boys played really really
well - like they have all year. This week we got the full rewards that
we deserved."
"I'd like to thank USC Lion for coming here and wanting to play football."
Farm's best players today: Brad Donovan, Alby Lynn, Anthony Staltari and Peter Bria.
The
home win now gives Farm 4 points from 4 games - which jumps the team
into 7th position. Farm now tackle last season's Division 1 winner,
Elizabeth Downs, away at Argana Park this Sunday.
Final score: Ingle Farm 2 USC Lion 0.

ROUND 5
ELIZABETH DOWNS vs INGLE FARM
ARGANA PARK
SUNDAY, MAY 13th, 2007
Ingle Farm today were defeated by last season's premier Elizabeth Downs 2-0 away at Argana Park.
Two magnificent strikes from the home team - 1 in each half - sealed Farm's fate as Downs ran out comfortable winners.
In
sunny conditions, the match started at a furious pace. Downs had a
couple of good chances squandered from long throw ins - one which was
brilliantly saved by Farm keeper, Robbie Greenwood.
However
Farm soon found their feet and grew in confidence - enjoying a good 20
minute spell of being the better team. Farm's pressure led to a
terrific chance for 1st team debutante, striker Jarrad Rich. Rich
out-sprinted Downs' defence to be one-on-one with the keeper, who
brilliantly snared the ball from Rich's feet to deny Farm an opening
goal. This would later prove to be Farm's best chance of the match.
Farm
troubled the home team for most of the first half, before Downs
midfielder Matty Blackwood seized the iniative in the 43rd minute for
the home team. From a corner kick, the ball was only
half-cleared by Farm's defence to just outside 18, where Blackwood
lurked, who then latched onto a fine volley into the top corner giving
Greenwood no chance. 1-0 to Downs.
Despite
the scoreline, Paul Jones, Alby Lynn, Peter Bria, Robbie Greenwood,
Brad Donovan, Leon Hannessen and Anthony Martini all had a good first
half for Farm.
Halftime: Elizabeth Downs 1 Ingle Farm 0.
The
pace of the match dropped in the second half however Downs continued to
put more pressure on their opponents - somewhat shutting the gate on
Farm's meager attacks. Fuda, Blackwood and Butler were playing well for
the home team as they put the squeeze on Farm.
Farm had little choice but to push for an equalizer and in the 65th minute the visitors were a victim of it.
Farm
lost the ball in the midfield where Downs exposed Farm's out of
position defenders. Downs quickly and concisely moved the ball forward
up to big Tony Reeves, who gathered the ball 30 yards out, dribbled up
to the 18 yard box and let fly with a left footed cracker, the ball
rocketing into the top corner of Farm's net. 2-0.
The impressive strike took the wind out of Farm's now wavering challenge.
Farm's
coaching staff tried several positional changes to try to grab an
unlikely reply. Anthony Ragazzo, Marty Lara and Graham Elrick were
introduced for the weary Bria and Ennis brothers. Lynn was pushed
forward and did some useful things but Farm looked a beaten outfit.
Downs deservingly grabbed full points, but Farm were no disgrace - beaten on the day by some exceptional finishing. The home team took their chances, Farm did not.
Farm
Head Coach Paul Simpson later said "(The Farm) boys played really well
- could not fault their effort, and it took 2 great strikes to beat
us."
Simpson
also wanted to mention an incident that occurred on Friday night during
the USC Lion vs Inter match, "I would also through this forum like to
send our commiserations to the Salisbury Inter goalkeeper who we hear
broke his leg on Friday Night. We sincerely wish him a speedy
recovery."
The result drops Farm down to second-bottom once again.
Final score: Elizabeth Downs 2 Ingle Farm 0.

ROUND 6
INGLE FARM vs PARAFIELD GARDENS
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, MAY 20th, 2007
Ingle Farm moved up to 7th position as they overcame determined Parafield Gardens 3-2 at Walkley Park today.
The
entertaining match seemed headed for a 2-2 draw after an impressive 2
goal comeback from the visitors, before Alby Lynn bobbed up in the 94th
minute to nod the ball home for an emphatic victory for the Farm.
In
mild overcast conditions, in front of a large crowd, Farm started well.
Farm defenders Anthony Martini and Anthony Staltari were easily holding
the Gardens strikers while Paul Jones, Brad Donovan, Leon Hannessen and
Dave Ennis were doing well moving the ball forward for the home team.
Farm
were dominating possession but wasted early chances. Countless Farm
corners lacked quality while a free kick awarded just outside 18 was
disappointing.
Evergreen
Dave Ennis nearly opened the scoring for Farm after 25 minutes when he
found space 15 yards out, but his shot struck the upright and rebounded
away.
However
the home team did not have to wait long before they struck. Anthony
Ragazzo raced down the line and cut the ball back where it ended with
Brad Donovan who made no mistake from 12 yards. 1-0 to Farm.
Farm contained Gardens well after the goal and held their lead until the break.
Halftime: Ingle Farm 1 Parafield Gardens 0.
Farm
doubled their lead in the 55th minute with a well worked move, straight
from the training ground. The ball was played through for hard-running
Paul Jones who cleverly crossed for unmarked Alby Lynn who headed the
ball home from several yards out. 2-0 to Farm.
Farm,
seemingly cruising, held their advantage for 10 minutes before Gardens
hit back. A clever pass from the midfield caught Farm's defence square
as Gardens striker Mohammed Ibrahim found space and made no mistake
from 15 yards. 2-1.
The
goal seemed to give Gardens some momentum as they began to play with
more purpose as Farm were now under the pump at the back. However
Gardens who were below par for most of the day could not conjure a goal
as it seemed Farm would be able to hold out for a 2-1 win.
However
with 10 minutes remaining in the match, Gardens equalized with an
absolute stunning strike. Matty Tape ran onto a square ball through the
midfield and let fly from fully 30 yards, the bullet shot swerving into
the top of the net. 2-2.
But
Farm were not to be denied. Deservingly the home team found a winner at
the death. In the 93rd minute Dave Ennis was brought down right on the
edge of the Gardens 18 yard box, a direct free kick the result. Up
stepped Brad Donovan for the free kick, who hit the crossbar, the ball
rebounding back into play where Alby Lynn was well positioned to follow
up and easily nod the ball home from 3 yards for a dream finish. 3-2.
From
a spectator's view the match was terrific entertainment, but Farm Head
Coach Paul Simpson must have been pulling his hair out after the
visitor's late equalizer.
"After
coasting 2-0 we took our foot off the pedal a bit and let Parafield
Gardens back into the game, but when you are second to bottom in the
league, you need a bit of luck," said Simpson.
"(It was) a great win today for the team and the club, we continued our great form from last week which justified the win."
Final score: Ingle Farm 3 Parafield Gardens 2.

ROUND 7
ELIZABETH VALE vs INGLE FARM
MOFFLIN RD, ELIZABETH VALE
SUNDAY, MAY 27th, 2007
Ingle Farm made it 2 wins from 2 games with a hard fought win over Elizabeth Vale at Mofflin Road today.
The
3-1 away victory - Farm's first away win of the season - leapfrogs Farm
over Vale to be sitting in 6th position after 7 rounds.
In
drizzly light rain, Farm shocked the home team right from kick off. A
fine ball was played to Anthony Ragazzo whose perfect cross could not
be put in by Alby Lynn, then Paul Jones, as the ball narrowly went wide
after no more than 20 seconds.
Farm
looked in the mood while their opponents seemed half asleep. The
visitors continued to pile on the pressure after the early chance.
Jarrad
Rich started another good move forward in the 12th minute when his fine
diagonal ball again found Ragazzo who crossed for Jones who couldn't
keep his sharp snap down from just 8 yards.
Ragazzo
put another tremendous ball into the Vale box that the home keeper
could only parry with his feet - somehow the home team managed to clear
the ball in an odd piece of defending.
In
the 28th minute, Farm finally got the opener they deserved from another
fine move. Paul Jones' clever work found Brad Donovan who again found
the running Jones, the striker firing at goal from 15 yards - giving
the Vale keeper no hope. 1-0 to Farm.
Farm
dominated the first half. Vale rarely got forward - and when they did -
Marty Lara and Anthony Staltari were all over the Vale strikers, giving
them little room. Farm had no passengers in a fine team performance.
Halftime: Elizabeth Vale 0 Ingle Farm 1.
Eight
minutes into the second half, rampaging Farm struck again. Hard-working
Alby Lynn nodded on for Ricky Simpson whose intelligent header set Brad
Donovan away. Donovan collected the ball 25 yards out, ran in on goal
and smashed home Farm's second from 15 yards. 2-0 to Farm.
Vale
were rattled, they looked gone early in the second half. Three minutes
later a brilliant Dave Ennis through ball set up Jones again whose
sharp strike hit the inside of the upright and rolled along the goal
line before the ball was desperately cleared by Vale's defence.
Given
a lifeline, Vale then pulled a goal back 4 minutes later. A good
through ball from midfield set up Vale midfielder Crawford, who made a
good run and then comfortably finished from 12 yards. 2-1.
The
game tightened up after the unexpected reply, and Vale enjoyed their
best period of the match. The home team fought back creating several
half chances but their finishing let the home team down.
Farm keeper Robbie Greenwood was solid as a rock at the back for the
visitors, comfortably keeping out Vale's meager attempts on goal, while
Leon Hannessen was brilliant in the midfield continually repelling
Vale's attempts to get forward. Chris Ennis was a tower of strength at
the back - as was Staltari and Lara who continued to beat their
opponents to the ball.
New
signing Chris Groom was introduced for exhausted Alby Lynn for the
final 10 minutes of the match - with good effect. In the 91st minute
Groom got on the end of some more good work from Paul Jones and fired
the ball into the top of the Vale net from 18 yards to seal the home
team's fate. 3-1 to Farm.
Moments later the referee brought the entertaining match to a close.
Farm
Head Coach Paul Simpson was delighted with the win, "(It was) a great
display by all players. We are now starting to play as a complete unit."
"We dominated this game for 70 minutes, and got our just rewards."
"Special mention to Brad Donovan, Chris Ennis, Paul Jones and Dave Ennis who were outstanding for us today."
Final score: Elizabeth Vale 1 Ingle Farm 3.

ROUND 8
INGLE FARM vs SALISBURY FLORINA
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JUNE 3rd, 2007
Ingle
Farm made it three wins on the trot as they comfortably defeated
previously unbeaten Salisbury Florina at its home ground today.
The
1-0 victory, which included a flurry of misses and a send off, moves
Farm up to equal fourth in the league after 8 rounds in Division 1.
In
cold, showery conditions, Farm were on top from the start. The home
team dominated possession and were all over their flat opponents.
In the 12th minute, a fine ball from Dave Ennis set up Brad Donovan who ran in on goal and drilled the ball home from 15 yards. 1-0 to Farm.
Florina rallied and a good solid save from Farm keeper Robbie Greenwood kept Farm their lead after 20 minutes.
Farm dominated the first half, countless chances were made, but poor finishing let the home team down.
Alby
Lynn missed an open goal after 25 minutes, Paul Jones missed a free
header close in, Brad Donovan scooped a good chance over the bar while
a well struck Chris Ennis volley was hit straight at Florina keeper
Sean Reynolds.
Farm's
defence looked rock solid, the midfield was well on top with Dave Ennis
and Leon Hannessen controlling the game while Paul Jones and Alby Lynn
were making their markers look second rank. Brad Donovan continued his
good form for Farm, setting up countless chances for the home team.
Halftime: Ingle Farm 1 Salisbury Florina 0.
Four
minutes into the second half, Paul Jones cleverly set up Donovan who
looked a certainty from 6 yards, however his disappointing shot grazed
the outside of the post undoing earlier good work.
A
bad tackle from behind saw a second yellow card dished out to Florina
defender Morris after just 10 minutes in the second half - making the
visitors already awkward task, an even more difficult one, with just 10
men.
With
even more space on the pitch after the departure, Farm still could not
get the ball in the onion bag. Paul Jones was brought down for what
looked like a clear penalty in the 61st minute, Farm's supporters were
livid that a spot kick was not awarded by the referee.
And Farm continued to miss the target.
Alby
Lynn had a great chance, not a defender near him, the normally reliable
finisher blazed the ball over the bar from 15 yards. Dave Ennis had a
similar chance that he too lifted over the bar, as did Donovan.
Farm
were almost punished for its inaccuracy when in the 73rd minute a
miskewed cross from Florina midfielder Goran Dedic glanced off the top
of the crossbar in what would have been an injustice to the home team
who were completely dominating the game.
Brad
Donovan had another good chance for his and Farm's second when he found
himself one on one with Florina keeper Sean Reynolds, however from 12
yards Reynolds solidly blocked the shot.
So
1-0 it ended, a good solid result for the home team, but Farm blew a
great opportunity to improve its goal difference in the league.
Farm Head Coach Paul Simpson said it was "A great display by the A's today."
"Eventhough it was a 1-0 scoreline, we created enough chances to have won 3 games."
"Our defence kept Florina to long-range shots, and our keeper was only troubled three times."
Simpson's better players included Brad Donovan, Chris Ennis, Marty Lara, Paul Jones and Dave Ennis.
Final score: Ingle Farm 1 Salisbury Florina 0.

ROUND 9
INGLE FARM vs PARA HILLS WEST
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JUNE 17th, 2007
Ingle
Farm Soccer Club had one of its all time great wins today against Para
Hills West when they defeated Westies 2-1 with ten men for the majority
of the game.
The
match looked gone for the home team after just 10 minutes when an Ingle
Farm player was red-carded, and when Westies went a goal up moments
later - Farm were staring down the barrel.
However
the second half saw a magnificent comeback by the home team - showing
grit, determination and belief - that saw Farm overhaul, then hold out
Westies, to record an unlikely victory that gave Farm its fourth win in
as many games.
In
bitterly cold conditions - that only the die hard supporters attended -
the match started evenly. Both teams looked sharp in what was shaping
to be a great contest.
In the 10th minute came the flash point of the game. Behind the play, two players clashed resulting in a red card to the Farm player.
With
their tails up, Westies then went ahead moments later. A well worked
move saw a cross finish with West striker Haffis, who cleverly headed
home from 6 yards. 1-0 to Westies.
Westies
continued to attack the home team with their extra man advantage during
the first half. David Eggars was instrumental in moving West forward as
the visitors looked to double their lead. Westies managed to get in
behind Farm's defence several times, but were continually thwarted by
Farm keeper Robbie Greenwood.
Greenwood made 3-4 terrific shutouts that frustrated the visitors and gave the home team the belief they needed.
David
Ennis continued his good form in the midfield for Farm, Jones was doing
some good things and along with Greenwood, Farm managed to hold West to
halftime.
Halftime: Ingle Farm 0 Para Hills West 1.
Straight
after the break, Farm opened Westies up at the back to pull a goal
back. Alby Lynn found Paul Jones who put a superb ball through for Brad
Donovan to run onto who made no mistake one-on-one tucking the ball
past West keeper Brook. 1-1.
The momentum of the game swung Farm's way after the goal, as the home team went in search of another.
Enter Farm defender Marty Lara.
Lara's marauding 35 yard run through the spine of Para Hills West saw
him into the West 18 yard box where he finally lost control of the
ball, the ball played back to the keeper by a West defender. However
Lara had continued to run on and put West keeper Brook under pressure,
the keeper having an absolute howler as he completely miskicked the
ball which fell to Lara's feet for an easy tap in from 3 yards out. 2-1 to Farm !!
It was then Farm's task to hold the visitors out for the remaining 26 minutes.
Step
up Anthony Staltari, Chris Ennis, Marty Lara, Anthony Martini, Paul
Jones, Brad Donovan, Jarrad Rich, Ricky Simpson and Greenwood who
combined to make it a formidable task for the visitors, who barr one
chance where the ball was blazed over the bar from 12 yards, held West
to long range shots.
Finally referee Bob Braithwaite brought the entertaining game to a close, to the cheers of the home crowd.
Farm
Head Coach Paul Simpson was grateful for the three points, but showed
empathy toward Para Hills West in their battle against relegation.
"Well
done to all players today. After an early send off, Para Hills West
dominated the best parts of the half, and were a little unlucky to go
into the break just 1-0 up."
"Second
half we re-structured the team and were able to get an early goal in
the second half which seemed to rattle Para Hills West. We scored our
second goal through a mistake from their goalkeeper and from there on
it was defend at all cost."
"Para Hills West then threw everything at us and could have scored an equalizer, if not a winning goal."
"From
what I have seen from Para Hills West in the past two weeks, they are
certainly a very good team, and I cannot understand why they find
themselves in the position they are in. They have some great players,
and a very good coach in Robbie Watkins, and I sincerely wish them the
best for the remainder of the season."
Simpson's best players included Farm keeper Robbie Greenwood, Dave Ennis, Paul Jones, Marty Lara and Chris Ennis.
Final score: Ingle Farm 2 Para Hills West 1.

ROUND 10
INGLE FARM vs FULHAM UNITED
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JUNE 24th, 2007
Ingle Farm Soccer Club climbed to 3rd in the league today when the home team belted Fulham 5-0.
Farm
dominated from start to finish as the impressive outfit continued its
good form to give the club its fifth straight win in the league.
In cold conditions, Farm started in an ominous mood. After just 5 minutes, Brad Donovan set up Paul Jones who ran clear and finished well from 14 yards. 1-0 to Farm.
Moments
later Fulham absolutely butchered a defensive play which saw the ball
land with Alby Lynn who tapped the ball home unchallenged into an open
goal from 12 yards. 2-0.
In
the 10th minute Donovan was presented with a good chance as he beat a
player and shot from 15 yards, however Fulham keeper Nardi made a fine
save to keep the visitors in it.
Fulham
had their best chance to score in the 18th minute when a low shot came
in on goal, however evergreen Farm keeper Robbie Greenwood made a solid
save down low.
After having
the better of possession and creating several more chances, Farm struck
again in the 36th minute. Donovan laid the ball off to find Dave Ennis
whose curling 20 yard strike to the far corner was too good for the
Fulham keeper in the best goal of the match. 3-0.
Paul Jones, Dave Ennis, Anthony Staltari, Anthony Ragazzo, Marty Lara and Donovan all had a good first half for the home team.
Halftime: Ingle Farm 3 Fulham 0.
Five
minutes into the second half Farm grabbed their fourth. A fine square
ball from Alby Lynn laid the ball on a platter for Donovan who tapped
the ball home from 5 yards. 4-0.
In
the 55th minute, Farm striker Paul Jones was denied a goal, when the
linesman flagged a player who was not interfering with play while Jones
ran from 5 metres behind the defensive line, tucking the ball away on
the near post. Sadly the goal was disallowed for offside.
However
hardworking Jones did have a hand in Farm's 5th goal in the 72nd
minute. Jones skillfully beat a Fulham defender before setting Donovan
away with a clever pass for the utility to comfortably finish from 12
yards. 5-0.
Farm Head Coach Paul Simpson later said it was "Another great win for the 1st team," and that "confidence is high."
"The game was played at a cracking pace which we slowly got on top of."
"The players that we brought in did a good job for us today, and I'm extremely proud of the way those players conducted themselves. "
"We look forward to playing Salisbury Inter this week, and reversing the result of the encounter earlier this season."
Simpson's best players included Paul Jones, Dave Ennis, Ricky Simpson and Anthony Ragazzo.

ROUND 11
SALISBURY INTER vs INGLE FARM
UNDERDOWN PARK
SUNDAY, JULY 1ST, 2007
Ingle Farm enjoyed their sixth win in a row that lifted the 1st team
into 2nd place when they defeated eighth-placed Salisbury Inter 1-0 at
Underdown park today.
Farm dictated proceedings for the majority and probably should have won by more in fine sunny conditions at Salisbury North.
Inter
started with their tails up and in the opening minutes had a terrific
chance to open the scoring. An Inter player got through to be one on
one but was thwarted by brilliant Farm keeper Robbie Greenwood who
superbly saved the goal attempt.
Farm
striker Alby Lynn also found himself one on one with the Inter keeper,
however clear in space, his shot was disappointingly straight at keeper
Sincock from 5 yards.
Anthony
Ragazzo was unlucky for Farm in the 25th minute when his spectacular
goalbound 18 yard strike was deflected straight to the Inter keeper.
Dave Ennis and Brad Donovan also found space forward but could not get the ball in the net.
Chris
Ennis, Dave Ennis, Anthony Ragazzo, Anthony Staltari and Jarrad Rich
all played well for the visitors in the first half however the score
remained goalless.
Halftime: Salisbury Inter 0 Ingle Farm 0.
Ten
minutes into the second half, Alby Lynn had his 18 yard volley strike
the face of the crossbar as Farm upped the pressure on the home team.
Chris
Ennis was outstanding in defence for Farm, as was Marty Lara and
Staltari. Ricky Simpson and Dave Ennis were also playing extremely
well, together these players gave little away to the opposition and
rebounded impressively.
With
Paul Jones, Simpson, Donovan, Lynn, Rich and Ragazzo continually
foraging forward for Farm, it seemed only a matter of time before the
visitors scored.
And
it finally came in the 66th minute. A good move started by Jarrad Rich
found Paul Jones who turned his defender inside out before squaring a
perfect cross for Donovan to place the ball in the net for Farm. 1-0.
Farm
were well on top for all of the second half and were unlucky not to
score again through Dave Ennis, Jones, Lynn and Donovan who all made
chances.
However 1-0 it ended to the cheers of the Farm traveling army.
Coach
Paul Simpson said "The game started very tensely, with Salisbury Inter
having the upper hand for the first 15 minutes. This was an entirely
different side from the 1st round. They were well organized an played
some very good football."
"We
created plenty of opportunities to score, but failed to take any of
them. If we had, perhaps a 5-0 result would have been more appropriate."
Simpson's best - C Ennis, Ragazzo, Donovan and Rich.
Final score: Ingle Farm 5 Fulham 0.

ROUND 12
INGLE FARM vs PARA HILLS EAST
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JULY 8th, 2007
Ingle
Farm defeated 3rd-placed Para Hills East 2-0 to open up a 3 point gap
over them and the rights to be the main challenger to Elizabeth Downs
for the 2007 Division 1 title.
Farm
remain 3 points behind Downs with 6 matches remaining in the season -
the two teams are scheduled to play in 3 weeks at Walkley Park in what
shapes as being the blockbuster match of this season.
Alby
Lynn was a late withdrawal for Farm today, the big striker had a
niggling ankle injury which will allow Lynn the next two weeks to
recover. Farm's A Team have a bye this weekend in the Cup Round.
Para
Hills East were also weakened for this match, Steve Ingham was ill
while suspensions to Gary Aitken and Andy Saggs also left their squad
thin. However East did regain Dane Vidakovic from injury for the big
match.
The
match started well for the home team who were quick to close down the
visitors, quickly getting on top in the midfield. Farm's early pressure
nearly forced a goal after 5 minutes when Paul Jones read a East pass
back to the keeper but unluckily Jones' challenge dribbled just wide of
the goal.
Para
Hills East were struggling to keep up with Farm early. Three yellow
cards were dished out to their players in the opening 15 minutes for
poor challenges in their defensive half.
In
the 20th minute, Ricky Simpson was put through by Chris Ennis to be one
on one with East keeper Ian Kirk, however Kirk got his angles right and
kept the ball out of his net from Simpson's 18 yard strike.
Farm
were doing extremely well all over the park. Farm midfielder Dave Ennis
was doing a terrific job on East midfielder Adam Dunt, Leon Hannessen
made a successful return to the starting lineup by playing well in the
engine room, Ragazzo was on top, as was Jarrad Rich who East had no
answer for.
East player Eowen O'Neill was battling to hold slick Brad Donovan, while Marty Lara, Anthony Staltari and Chris Ennis continued their fine form in defence for Farm.
Farm's
pressure finally paid dividends when they were awarded a penalty in the
35th minute. Brad Donovan made a strong run into the East 18 yard box,
rounding his player who pursued Donovan before bringing him to the deck
14 yards out from goal. Penalty!
Up-stepped
Farm Captain Chris Ennis for the resulting spot kick to wash away last
Cup Round demons and smash the ball into the net. 1-0 to Farm.
Farm
continued to attack and several more chances were made as East keeper
Kirk did well to keep Farm to just 1 goal at half time.
Half time: Ingle Farm 1 Para Hills East 0.
After
the restart, Farm continued to dominate. Paul Jones and Ricky Simpson
were a handful for East's defence while Dave Ennis, Anthony Ragazzo, Donovan, Rich and Hannessen gave nothing away.
Keeper
Kirk and Farm's Ricky Simpson clashed early in the second half, where
Simpson showed great discipline to restrain himself after provocation
from the East keeper. However in the 57th minute, the Farm striker had
the last laugh.
A
pass back to Kirk from East's defence was well read by Simpson who
intercepted the ball 25 yards out, cleverly rounding the keeper, and
placing the ball into the unguarded net from 18 yards for Farm's
second. 2-0.
Farm
were relentless. Every player was winning his position as the home
team's fitness and skill had East chasing shadows for the majority of
the match. East striker's could not find space with the irresistible
Lara and Staltari doing a sterling job at the back allowing nothing to
go by them.
In the
80th minute another brilliant run from Ragazzo ended with another wild
challenge in the East 18 yard box, resulting in Farm's second penalty
of the match.
League top scorer Brad Donovan this time stepped up for the spot kick, but the arrogant attempt was chipped over the crossbar.
However
Farm continued to attack. Paul Jones was put through where his pace saw
him run clear, and but for a brilliant save by Kirk, Jones would have
made the scoreline more appropriate. Jarrad Rich also got forward late
in the match, but his miskewed attempt saw the ball run wide of goal.
So 2-0 it ended, with poor old Robbie Greenwood barely having a touch in goal for the home team.
Farm
Head Coach Paul Simpson later said "(It was) another good win for the A
Team today considering we had 3 players out. Conditions weren't easy
for both teams, but I thought we dominated the game from beginning to
end."
"Para Hills East are a very hard team to play against and I thought the difference today was our discipline."
Simpson's best players included Dave Ennis, Leon Hannessen, Marty Lara, Brad Donovan and Anthony Ragazzo.
Final score: Ingle Farm 2 Para Hills East 0.

ROUND 13
USC LION vs INGLE FARM
GRANGE
SUNDAY, JULY 22nd, 2007
Ingle
Farm blew chances to finish off the opposition mid way into the second
half and were lucky to escape with a draw away to USC Lion today at
Grange.
Up
2-1 in the second half, Ricky Simpson then Alby Lynn squandered chances
that should have seen Farm take all three points against determined
Lion at Grange today.
Farm
started slowly, in their first opportunity of the game, Lion pushed
forward and squared the ball where USC Lion striker and league top
scorer Djoko Dobric lurked and tucked the ball away from 7 yards. 1-0
to Lion.
Farm
fought back with plenty of attacking soccer, however struggled to
penetrate Lion's defence for the majority of the 1st half.
However eventually Farm did get their equalizer after
40 minutes. Donovan beat his marker and laid off to Jarrad Rich whose
cross troubled Lion where it ended with Anthony Ragazzo who volleyed
home from 9 yards. 1-1.
Halftime: 1-1.
After
the break Farm took the lead. A fine through ball saw Ricky Simpson run
onto it, put pressure on the goalkeeper and defender who made a mess of
the clearance, only to see the ball drop to Simpson's feet who made no
mistake with the open goal from 12 yards. 2-1 to Farm.
Farm
were right on top at this stage of the match. It seemed Farm would
strike again. A terrific ball through from Paul Jones found Ricky
Simpson again, this time at full tilt, one on one with the goalkeeper,
however his 16 yard attempt just whizzed over the crossbar.
Farm
then had it's best chance of the half when Alby Lynn was put clear to
be one on one, however Lynn after steadying failed to hit the target
with a complete mis-kick that Farm would be made to pay for later in
the game.
Lion fought back into the match and began to get on top. A good attacking move from the home team saw striker Djoko Dobric again put through, who was flagged offside, but ignored, before turning and finishing from 18 yards. 2-2.
Minutes later Dobric
struck again. A blistering near post shot couldn't be kept out by
Greenwood who was surprised by the shots power, which saw the ball dart
in off the post to find the back of the net for an unlikely 3-2 lead to
Lion.
Fortunately
for Farm, right at the death, the visitors scrambled in a late
equalizer. The ball was played in where several players had touches
before Brad Donovan's sharp strike found the net from close range. 3-3.
Simpson's best
players included Chris Ennis, Ricky Simpson and Leon Hannessen however
he was bitterly disappointed with his team's result.

ROUND 14
INGLE FARM vs ELIZABETH DOWNS
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JULY 29th, 2007
Ingle Farm today lost almost all hope of winning Division 1 when they
were defeated 1-0 at home against top team Elizabeth Downs. The Downs
win opens up an eight point gap over Farm in second place with just 4
matches remaining in the season.
Downs
thoroughly deserved their win after a professional performance that
barely saw Farm trouble the Downs keeper. Brother of our own Adam
Blackwood, Matty Blackwood, was instrumental in leading the Downs team
to victory against Farm once again.
Both
teams were depleted by injury for the match. Paul Jones, Anthony
Ragazzo and Jarrad Rich were missing for Farm while Butler and Tony
Reeves weren't in the starting lineup for the visitors. Peter Bria and
Danny Giorgetti were pulled from the Reserves side to fill the void for
the home team.
In
windy, overcast conditions, the match opened tightly. A midfield
arm-wrestle began with the two teams testing one another out early
doors. Notably Dave Ennis and Matty Blackwood along with Leon Hannessen
and big Burt Fuda were at each other as both teams tried to get the
upper hand.
Downs
opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a well worked move. Downs
right midfielder Hain made a good run down the wing, put in a fine
cross where Steve Hughes comfortably tucked away the ball from 14
yards. 1-0 to Downs.
Farm
nearly responded 4 minutes later when a free kick was swung in where
leaping Leon Hannessen narrowly missed his free header from 7 yards.
Downs
responded and pushed forward with Hain again on the attack. Hain's fine
run ended with a 20 yard angled strike that narrowly went past the far
post.
Farm's
Brad Donovan almost pulled the score back level when his marauding run
through the Downs defence ended with a weak shot that deflected wide of
the target.
Farm
in their best spell of the match earned a flurry of corners which they
couldn't capitalize on as the home team tried to no avail to level the
score before the break.
Good first half performances for Farm came from Anthony Staltari, Dave Ennis, Leon Hannessen, Ricky Simpson and Chris Ennis.
Halftime: Ingle Farm 0 Elizabeth Downs 1.
After
the break Downs brought on big Tony Reeves for Tom Radford - who had
battled through the first half with what appeared to be an extremely
sore back. Farm were unchanged.
Similar to the Round 5 fixture between the two clubs, the pace of the match dropped considerably in the second half.
Early
in the second half it seemed Farm may trouble Downs at the back. Downs
keeper Hulls appeared to be struggling from an earlier knock and not
moving freely. However the visitors were rarely troubled. Farm were
desperate for an equalizer could not penetrate the well-organized Downs
defence.
Danny
Giorgetti and Peter Bria managed to get several crosses in for Farm,
but the height of Fuda gave Downs an unfair advantage over his Farm
opponents.
With
gritty Dave Ennis leaving the pitch late in the game with a fractured
leg, Matty Blackwood stamped his authority on the game with hard
running and experience to lead his team to victory
Farm
keeper Robbie Greenwood did make one fine save late in the game that
kept the scoreline to just one goal, but Farm soon ran out of puff as
late attacks fizzled.
So 0-1 was the final score in an entertaining match in front of a large crowd at Walkley Park.
Best for Farm: Chris Ennis, Dave Ennis, Marty Lara, Anthony Staltari and Leon Hannessen.

ROUND 15
PARAFIELD GARDENS vs INGLE FARM
BRADMAN OVAL
SUNDAY, AUGUST 5th, 2007
Ingle
Farm dominated the first half and withstood a belated comeback from
10-manned Parafield Gardens to record their 9th win of the season today
at Bradman Park.
Farm's
task was made easier when Gardens defender Matty Tape was sent off that
left his already depleted team battling to stay in the match.
In
sunny conditions, the match kicked off with Farm looking the better
team. Farm's Leon Hannessen and Dean Pietersen got on top early while
Brad Donovan, Chris Groom and Paul Jones looked dangerous.
Farm
opened the scoring after 13 minutes when a Brad Donovan cross was
flicked on at the near post with the ball ending with Chris Groom who
volleyed home from 6 yards at the far post. 1-0 to Farm.
Gardens replied with a couple of attacks, one of which Farm keeper Robbie Greenwood superbly saved at his near post.
However
in the 25th minute came the flashpoint of the game. A good ball through
from Donovan set up bustling Paul Jones who got in behind the defence
only to be brought down 19 yards out with just the keeper to beat.
Gardens defender Tape was shown a straight red card for his careless
challenge. The resulting free kick was well saved by Gardens keeper
Acosta.
Two minutes later a fine diagonal ball from Anthony Ragazzo ended with Jarrad Rich who from a tight angle squeezed the ball into the net for Farm's second. 2-0.
By
now Farm were completely dominating. Farm's midfield were all over
their opponents, the strikers created chances and Chris Ennis continued
his fine form at the back and was well supported by Anthony Staltari
and Marty Lara.
In the 37th minute Farm scored their third. A dangerous Chris Groom corner was
punched clear by Gardens keeper Acosta where the ball sat up perfectly
for lurking Leon Hannessen who volleyed home a sensational goal from 20
yards. 3-0 to Farm.
A
flurry of chances followed for Farm, in the 39th minute a superbly
timed pass was put through for Anthony Ragazzo - who ran 50 yards to be
one on one - only to have his shot well saved. In the 41st minute a
fine Chris Ennis ball through set Jarrad Rich away, who similar to
Ragazzo had his one on one saved, before Ragazzo once again had another
shot deflected narrowly over the crossbar.
Farm could have gone in 5 or 6 goals up, but Gardens keeper Acosta had done well to keep the score just to three.
Halftime: Parafield Gardens 0 Ingle Farm 3.
Five
minutes into the second half Farm made their 4th. Donovan tackled a
defender and won the ball, his shot was saved, the deflection landed
with Groom who unselfishly squared the ball back to Donovan for him to
belt the ball home from 10 yards. 4-0 to Farm.
Farm appeared content with their lead after this goal and somewhat took their foot off the pedal.
Robbie
Greenwood was called into action when he magnificently saved a Gardens
shot from 15 yards in the 60th minute, then followed up with several
more solid saves that held the visitors 4 goal advantage.
However
Gardens did pull a goal back after 72 minutes. A corner saw Chris Ennis
dragged out of position that left Gardens player Foster with a free header from 8 yards. 4-1.
Ten
minutes later Gardens pulled a further goal back when Gardens
midfielder Johnny Hopkins' shot deflected its way into the net from
close range. 4-2.
However Farm steadied and held out for a fine 4-2 away win.
Farm
Head Coach Paul Simpson later said "It was a great 1st half where we
completely outplayed Parafield Gardens, but give credit to Parafield
Gardens for a spirited second half."
Simpson's best for Farm: Chris Groom, Leon Hannessen and Robbie Greenwood.

ROUND 16
INGLE FARM vs ELIZABETH VALE
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, AUGUST 19th, 2007
Ingle Farm surrendered a 2-0 lead midway into the second half against 7th-placed Elizabeth Vale to eventually draw 2-2 at Walkley Park today.
Writing
his name all over the match was Farm goalkeeper Robbie Greenwood who
rescued his team countless times with some stunning saves to deny the
visitors an unlikely away win.
In sunny conditions, Farm started far better. Kicking down the slope the home team were asking all the questions with Paul Jones, Brad Donovan, Ricky Simpson, Anthony Ragazzo and Chris Groom relentlessly attacking the visitors.
Farm's forward pressure soon paid dividends when they opened the scoring in the 20th minute. Striker
Chris Groom bravely tackled a Vale defender resulting in the ball
deflecting into the net for an own goal from 7 yards. 1-0 to Farm.
Farm
doubled their lead 10 minutes later when a fine ball from Ricky Simpson
found Paul Jones who cleverly slipped a ball through to Brad Donovan
who rounded burly Vale keeper Vrettakos and tapped the ball into an unguarded net from 14 yards. 2-0.
Farm had more chances to extend their lead but its finishing and delivery was wayward.
Late
in the first half Vale staged some kind of fightback resulting in some
chances of their own. Vale striker's Michael Brooks and Chris Nicholls
between them had several chances but were unable to beat the
irresistible Farm keeper Greenwood. Greenwood made several spectacular
saves that frustrated the visitors and saved his teams blushes.
Leon
Hannessen, Ricky Simpson, Brad Donovan, Robbie Greenwood, Chris Ennis,
Marty Lara and Paul Jones had a good first half for Farm.
Halftime: Ingle Farm 2 Elizabeth Vale 0.
Early
in the second half it seemed Farm would soon score again. Brad Donovan
was making impressive pillages forward, Ragazzo and Simpson's marauding
runs forward were effective and dangerous Paul Jones was zip zapping
across the forward lines, that the visitors were struggling to contain.
Donovan had
Farm's best chance in the 65th minute when a fine run saw him one on
one with the keeper, but the fridge-like figure did well to get down
and block the shot from 12 yards.
Vale
again fought back into the match and after some forward pressure a
clumsy challenge on a Vale player in Farm's defensive 18 yard box
resulted in a penalty in the 70th minute. Vale's Chris Nicholls stepped
up for the spot kick that gave Greenwood no chance. 2-1.
With
their tails up Vale continued to attack. Brooks and Nicholls were now
troubling Farm's usually reliable defence. Several shots seemed
destined for the net but for sensational Robbie Greenwood. Time and
time again the Farm keeper pulled out every save in the book to deny
the rampaging visitors.
But
Vale were not about to be denied. Another fine move in the 81st minute
saw the ball squared and Vale midfielder Crawford was well-positioned
10 yards out to hammer home a shot that even Greenwood couldn't stop.
2-2.
Both teams
had late chances to take maximum points after the late equalizer
however neither team managed to add to the scoreline in the final ten
minutes.
So 2-2 it
ended leaving Farm disappointed having lead for two thirds of the
match. Farm Head Coach Paul Simpson was disappointed with his teams
second half. "After a dream start and coming in at 2-0 at halftime, we
defended very poorly in the second half." said Simpson. "Only great
goalkeeping from Robbie Greenwood enabled us to draw in what was a very
winnable game."
Simpson's best players included Robbie Greenwood, Leon Hannessen, Paul Jones and Ricky Simpson.
Final score: Ingle Farm 2 Elizabeth Vale 2.

Farm
had their chance to win - taking the lead late in the second half -
before Florina pulled back an equalizer in the final 5 minutes of the
match.
Once again Brad Donovan scored for Farm before Chris Groom grabbed his third goal from 4 matches late in the second half.
Farm keeper Robbie Greenwood once again had a superb match between the sticks making some brilliant saves.
The match ended 2-2 after the 90 minutes.

ROUND 18
PARA HILLS WEST vs INGLE FARM
MANOR FARM OVAL
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2007
Depleted Ingle Farm lost 3-1 to mid tabled Para Hills West today.
How depleted was the team? Well Jason Walker was one of the substitutes.
Farm did not look like winning from the opening minute as the home team blitzed Farm down the flanks.
Westies took the lead before the halftime break with a well worked move giving farm keeper Greenwood no hope. 1-0 to Westies.
Halftime: Para Hills West 1 Ingle Farm 0.
Five
minutes into the second half the Para Hills West keeper once again gave
Farm a gift. Having been bronx cheered for all of the first half after
gifting Farm a goal earlier in the year, West keeper Brooks again
fumbled an easy shot gifting Farm striker Paul Jones a tap in from 5
yards. 1-1.
Almost
immediately Westies deservedly regained the lead when some poor
defending from Farm allowed a chance to the home team who lapped it up
with celebration. 2-1.
Five
minutes later Farm conceded another with another move around the flank
exposing Farm's defence once more for an easy finish. 3-1.
Farm battled on but created few chances late in the half.
Best for Farm: Paul Jones, Ricky Simpson & Chris Ennis.
